Thousands of model building enthusiasts are expected to gather at the world's largest fair for model building and model sports, INTERMODELLBAU, once again in Dortmund's exhibition halls next year. With its diverse categories and a wide range of offerings, including demonstrations, specialist lectures, various shows and a huge number of models and display units designed with attention to detail, INTERMODELLBAU traditionally also inspires newcomers and families.
Dortmund, 05.11.2024 – 2025 INTERMODELLBAU will take place from 10 to 13 April. Originally designed purely for model building enthusiasts as a platform to connect and exchange ideas, INTERMODELLBAU now also offers a wide range of products and services for visitors, including newcomers and families, covering nearly all major areas of model building and model sports. The exhibitors come from the fields of aircraft, ship and railroad model building, RC model building (RC = Remote Control, i.e. remote-controlled models) as well as figure and diorama building. Many well-known exhibitors have already confirmed their participation, as have exciting new ones. Together, they will transform the Dortmund exhibition halls into an imaginatively designed world in miniature format.
Wide range of products for model building enthusiasts
Every year, visitors to INTERMODELLBAU eagerly await the hand-picked selection of elaborately designed display layouts and models, some of which have never been seen before in Germany. For many, this alone makes a visit worthwhile. This will be the case again in April next year. In addition, there are workshops, demonstrations and competitions that invite visitors to become active themselves, show off their skills and learn new things. This diversity has made INTERMODELLBAU the central point of contact for the model-building scene for decades. “INTERMODELLBAU is unique in the world for the variety of its offerings,” says Sabine Loos, Managing Director of Messe Dortmund. ”The exhibition has been offering inspiration, information, exchange and experience all in one for almost 50 years. We are very pleased to welcome an event with such a long tradition and such a loyal community back to Messe Dortmund in 2025.”
Many well-known exhibitors will be represented with large stands
In 2025, INTERMODELLBAU will once again feature many well-known manufacturers with stands and new products that are well worth seeing. In the model railroad sector, Märklin & Cie GmbH, Faller GmbH and Viessmann Modelltechnik GmbH will be present. Also, Brawa Artur Braun Modellspielwarenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG, will be there. The Company is particularly popular among connoisseurs for its detailed historical models of locomotives, wagons and other rail vehicles. Represented as well is Noch Gmbh & Co KG, offering an extensive range of design elements, such as those for landscaping. Hartweg R/C, Der RC Bruder and thicon models will be on site with an extensive range of remote-controlled RC vehicles and various functional models. The latter not only reproduce the external appearance of a vehicle, building or machine, but also simulate essential functions of the original or even actually carry them out. Among others, Setro Elektronik/ TA Modellbau OHG will be represented from the RC model segment. Ligna Arts OHG presents filigree and mechanical wooden models, while Imprintium presents a wide range of 3D printed models by various designers and design studios from different subject areas.
By road, water and air: diverse highlights from the world of model making
The exhibitors' stands at INTERMODELLBAU are once again traditionally packed with highlights worth seeing. Many invite visitors to join in. For example, visitors will have the opportunity to steer remote-controlled functional models through creatively designed courses, some of which have been specially developed for INTERMODELLBAU. In the flight area, Slow Flyer & Co. can show off their skills, perform loops or other tricks. Even the youngest visitors will be amazed by flying models such as Lukas the locomotive. In the water basin, on the other hand, faithfully reproduced model ships will do their rounds or even pull a rubber dinghy with visitors. Children can obtain their captain's license and steer boats with technically sophisticated remote controls. Various workshops and play stations, for example for modeling creative elements, round off the program.
