Fantasy worlds, spectacular buildings and creativity will abound as LEGO® fever comes to Messe Dortmund. INTERMODELLBAU is to welcome local model building club 'LEGO® Modellbaufans Rheinland e.V.' (MBFR) to Hall 7 between 20 and 23 April 2023. Families, children and LEGO® enthusiasts will be treated to a fan exhibition of amazing LEGO® models built by club members. Those with a passion for brick-building will be most welcome in the integrated LEGO® play area offering families and children an opportunity to let their creative talents flow.
Dortmund, 18 April 2023 – In addition to a host of model railway layouts, ships, aircraft and vehicle models, INTERMODELLBAU between 20 and 23 April will also be presenting incredible models and entire fantasy worlds made of millions of Lego® bricks. Model building club 'LEGO® Modellbaufans Rheinland e.V.' will be presenting its spectacular works of art at the venue. These cover subject matter ranging from replicas of well-known buildings to imposing cities complete with fire fighters, police forces and railway stations, and will even include scenes set in outer space focusing on the Star Wars saga, Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek. The LEGO® fan exhibition will be presented at the venue by around 80 people in all.
Childhood memories and models to marvel at
Exhibits will include a full-size red piano, the Palace of Westminster complete with Big Ben, two dioramas with sets from the 1980s and a world of knights made from over 100,000 bricks. The largest model will be presented on an area covering more than 100 square metres – a railway layout comprising an amazing 5 million pieces. For everyone bitten by the building block bug, the integrated LEGO® play area for families and children presents an opportunity to tap into one's own creativity and immerse oneself in different LEGO play worlds featuring LEGO® Super Mario™, LEGO® Friends and LEGO® Technic. Find out where your creative skills lie!
The sheer variety of models makes the LEGO® fan exhibition an attraction for young and old alike. Adults will re-discover models from their childhoods, and be interested in the number of bricks used, while children love the latest LEGO® models with their details and moving parts. Indeed, the models on display will offer everyone countless creative ideas and inspiration for their own LEGO® projects.
Putting the fans centre-stage
From imaginative MOCs (My Own Creation) to impressive replicas of well-known buildings – grown-up LEGO® fans a.k.a. 'Adult Fans of LEGO®' (AFOLs) bring real passion to bear. In everyday life they are model makers, architects, designers and often incredible artists. They work on their spectacular projects alone, in pairs or in any one of the many fan societies. From Hamburg, Leipzig and Berlin to Stuttgart and Munich, people who devote their free time to these versatile bricks are joining together to create LEGO® fan clubs. The clubs, which exist all over the world, meet to talk shop about building, rebuilding or constructing their own LEGO® models, and much more.
The LEGO® Modellbaufans Rheinland club is one of these lively associations bringing the magic of LEGO® to life at INTERMODELLBAU via its fan exhibition. The club's aim is to promote, communicate and publicise playing and building with LEGO® construction toys in general and the hobby of LEGO® model making in particular in this part of Germany – something that's anything but difficult given the models on display. The MBFR team is looking forward to stimulating conversations at the show and will be happy to provide information on building techniques and on the fan community. The exhibition is being supported by LEGO® Germany.
